Changing the color of the cursor/I-bar

I'm using Netbeans 6.5 and the default color scheme seems to be a bright yellow cursor/I-bar on a white background. This is nearly invisible. Does anyone know how to change the cursor color? I tried Options->Fonts&Colors but nothing in there seems to do the trick.

I originally thought this was an X11 thing, but if I open a standard X11 terminal window, the cursor is black.

Options->Fonts&Colors -> Highlighting -> Caret Color
